The Pequin pepper is a very small chili pepper that has a lot of heat. It is sometimes called the bird pepper. Pequin’s are often pickled in vinegar and grace many south Texan and Mexican tables. The plants are cute and hardy. Then can get up to four feet tall and make nice ovals. They can grow well in a container as well. The chilies are bright red and look ornamental. The peppers rate between 50,000 and 100,000 Scoville.
