They put out big, blocky 4 1/2 inch bells that have thick, meaty walls. The flavor is sweet and crunchy whether harvested green or red. Sturdy, 22-inch plants begin bearing early and keep on producing for exceptional yields. Tolerant to TMV and PVY. One of the most popular bell peppers.

It is used by locals and has begun to gather followers in Colorado and without.  It can be between 5,000 to 20,000 Scoville units.  It is considered a delicacy and is sold in farmers’ markets in South West as fast as it can be grown.  It can be used raw in salsas or roasted in many ways.  The only way to tell if it is better than the Hatch is to grow them both and see which one you like better.

    The Purple Beauty is a 70 days Heirloom Sweet Pepper. A short bushy plant has lots of leaves to protect the fruit.  The 3-4 inch lobed bell-type fruit is purple from the start. Sweet, mild flesh is thick-walled.  They make a splash on your plate with their deep purple coloring. The peppers start green to white and then develop purple stripes that eventually cover the entire fruit.   The meat stays lime green inside.

    The pepper likes heat and humidity and does well in Climates like Missouri.  The plant itself will get 18 to 24 inches tall.
