The Mortgage Lifter is an 83 days heirloom indeterminate tomato that often gets to 8 feet in height. It is a beefsteak size but what sets it apart is the size of the fruit. The tomatoes can easily get to one pound or even two. The tomatoes have a lot of meat and smooth, pink skinned fruits even in droughts.
The story behind the Mortgage Lifter is that it was so popular that it’s sales paid off William Estler Barboursville’s West Virginia home in the 1920’s
