  • Fred Tomato Seeds

    $3.00

    Fred Tomato Seeds

    $3.00

This is an heirloom to our rescue program.  The tomato came from a fellow farmer at the Columbia Farmers Market.  It is his family’s heirloom tomato from the Mid-Missouri Glasgow area.  The tomato is larger than a normal plum tomato that is good for canning and cooking as well as eating fresh.  The Fred is a weird plant that has really small leaves and lanky limbs.  The tomatoes take a while to come in, and they are really large.

The Fred was named after the Missouri Extension Agent that developed the tomato in the ’50s adapting it to Missouri. We are the only known source for these seeds.

These seeds have a lower germination rate and each tomato has very few seeds.  So there are only 12 seeds per pack.
